Morosis

Walking in the shadows
glancing at the stars
I’m far away from home
so far away to stall.

Swimming through the ocean
glancing at the stars
I find a taste familiar
one I can’t forget at all.

Flying above the clouds
glancing at the stars
I feel I am the king
there’s no one here as tall.

Lying on the ground
glancing at the stars
I close my eyes one last time
crippled by the fall.

Glancing at the stars
longing one to fall
I was blinded by the moonlight
Too afraid to make the call.

There Was No One

I thought I was out of my mind
Lying to self, leaving all behind.
Was just like those dreams;
Was just like a lie.
And there was no one.

No one taught me how to love someone
And find a reason not to be so glum.
Was worth the wishful eyes;
Was worth the fight.
And there was no one.

Deafening silence hung around the gates of gold,
Eyes of sorrow and a heart so cold.
As I looked back,
As I died.
There was no one.

Goodbye

I see you standing, looking at me
Staring at me, smiling at me
Somehow I manage to smile too
Hiding the pain inside

I don’t know if this is the end of the story
I don’t know if I believe in destiny
But I sure do believe in angels
Divine hearted, starry eyed

Of all the things I hear
There’s one the most I fear
The hurtful word in your voice
That leaves me tongue-tied

And now you’re leaving, oh my
Dear I wish my eyes were dry
You said it and have to reply
The inevitable goodbye
[This was my first poem. These days I don’t have time to write so I thought why not share this old one.]

Guiding Star

As I move through dark I see
Up in the sky looking down on me
I look at you and pull me through
Blindly swimming in the dead sea

A ray of hope is what you are
I have faith in my guiding star

Keeping my head up as my arms go numb
Rougher and rougher the waves become
Times get worse before they get better
Thinking I wait for the shore to come

Promising me the horizon not so far
You conspire with the devious death star

I’m broken, for this is the end
I’m frozen as I see you pretend
I look at you but you always knew
Foolish me thought you were a friend

Building me up till I fall apart
Laughing in the sky stood my guiding star
